The Earth’s body is like an ongoing dance choreography unfolding in time and space, travelling across the globe. It is a dynamic and ever-changing body whose movements and dances are inscribed into the land-formations. Can we see and read them? How do we engage with them?

. tektoparty is a participatory excursion that merges the disciplines of geology and art, especially the art of dance, to activate fresh perspectives on the workings of our bodies, the body of society and the body of the Earth. The Earth itself, along with our human understanding of it, are essential collaborators in this choreographic hike.

For all Ages.

Earth’s crust is often rent by a series of gradual fractures, from fissures to cracks to splits,
before a full-blown fault emerges. One way to initiate a transformative societal shift is to immerse individuals in ecologically active communities that nurture collaborative creative endeavors interwoven with educational pursuits and interdisciplinary dialogue.

The .tektoparty art project seeks to cultivate shared creative experiences among individuals from diverse backgrounds, fostering connections that, like interconnected cracks, can collectively contribute to a positive social transformation.

In ecological performance art, the artists, together with the audience and the environment, engage in an emancipated creative dialogue that prototypes the disruption of hierarchical structures prevalent in society and challenges anthropocentric perspectives.

Premiered on October 6, 2022, on the first International Day of Geodiversity designated by UNESCO, the production was created on the site of the Hlubočepské Plotny, a former quarry Vysoká, now a nature reserve of European importance belonging to the geologically world-
renowned Barrandien site.

About the formation:
“My fascination with Earth’s movements began in 2019, nourished by initial field trips and ongoing consultations with geologists. In 2020, dance artist Matthew Rogers joined the project as a collaborator on movement research and choreography. For the final year of development in 2022, stage director Marika Smreková enriched the creative team as a dramaturge, bringing her expertise in participatory theater. Like a geological formation sculpted from layers, the stratigraphy of the creative process would be incomplete without the essential contributions of performers Martina Hajdyla Lacová and Marek Menšík.”

The performance is also suitable for children from 8 years old. Since the performance takes place in the nature, each participant is at his own risk.

BIO

Zden Brungot Svíteková / Ostružina

Zden is a dance artist, performer, creator, collaborator and co-founder of Ostružina. She graduated from the Faculty of Music and Dance at the Academy of Performing Arts in Bratislava, later continuing her studies in France, the USA, and Norway.

Her focus lies in movement research, particularly exploring sensorial and somatic approaches in dance, as well as active spectatorship. Nourished by an insatiable curiosity, profound respect for diverse cultures, and a deep connection to various landscapes, it has been greatly enriched by extended residencies in Europe and the Nordic regions.

She thrives in creative dialogues within interdisciplinary collaborations, spanning performing arts, visual arts, music, and natural as well as human sciences. She has a long-standing fascination with exploring the Earth’s body. This artistic practice under the framework of a long-term research titled Geology of Being (GOB) investigates the intersection of geology and contemporary performance through choreographic practices and score-writing.

She is also interested in facilitation process and involved in the practice of upwording, a practice evolutionising thinking through everyday use of language. She collaborates with the Centre for Choreographic Development SE.S.TA, for which she leads projects in the context of creative education and the artistic process of creation.

OSTRUŽINA z.s. is all about contemporary dance and movement. We collaborate with artists from all kinds of backgrounds to create experiences that awaken your senses.
We believe in the power of working together, being inclusive, and keeping an open mind. Our mission is to make dance accessible to everyone, no matter your age, experience, or any other limitations. We perform in all sorts of spaces, from theaters to city streets and even the great outdoors. We often work with young audiences and bridge the generation gap. Since 2021, we’ve been bringing dance to the deaf community through workshops and adapted performances.
